The 2020 Election

Donald Trump and his enablers threaten America and the health, well-being, and civil rights of our diverse communities. We unequivocally reject Trump’s racist, xenophobic, and anti-science policies.

In 2018, we helped flip three districts in Southern California by reaching out to neglected voters through Asian language media.

In 2020, we targeted swing states where the Asian Americans electorate is growing faster than any other group. For instance, Trump won Michigan in 2016 by 13,000 voters, but there are now 173,000 AAPI voters in Michigan. Since 2014, the AAPI electorate in swing states like Arizona, North Carolina, and Texas has increased by 50% compared to 1-13% growth in the general voting population.

Asian Americans lean left. By engaging in this voting bloc, we helped defeat Trump and flip the Senate.

Who We Are

Asian Americans Against Trump mobilizes voters that most campaigns ignore. Through culturally relevant Asian language media we persuade Asian Americans to vote against Trump and his ilk.

We are a scrappy group fueled by talented volunteer power and community supporters. We are activists, educators, nonprofit leaders, attorneys, entrepreneurs, creatives, healthcare professionals, and seasoned campaign volunteers. We are the daughters and sons of immigrants and refugees.

Come join us in our efforts.

What We Accomplished in the 2018 Midterm Elections

In 2018, we launched Asian Americans Against Trumpism and helped flip three Congressional districts with sizeable Asian American populations in the conservative stronghold of Orange County, California: CA-39, CA-45, and CA-48. In those areas, Asian Americans comprise 17 to 29 percent of the population.

Half of all Asian American voters consume Asian language media, yet none of the California Democratic House candidates planned to make significant Asian language ad buys. By creating and running ads in Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean language newspapers, TV, and social media, we reached voters who are typically overlooked.

When the dust settled, all three districts flipped from red to blue by razor thin margins — decimating the Republican party in Orange County in a historic sweep. Every vote mattered.
